To empower, educate, and inspire young Black males by providing them with resources, mentorship, and a platform for dialogue to address systemic challenges, celebrate their achievements, and foster leadership in their communities.
To create a future where young Black males have equitable access to opportunities, excel as leaders in their fields, and contribute to building stronger, more inclusive societies. The conference envisions a world where systemic barriers are dismantled, and every young Black male thrives with confidence, purpose, and support.
The Young Black Males Conference (YBMC), held in Pasadena, California, was founded in 2008 by Pastor Tyrone Skinner of Metropolitan Baptist Church in Altadena. This transformative event was created to address the unique challenges and opportunities faced by young Black men and has remained a cornerstone of community empowerment for over 15 years. Rooted in grassroots efforts and a steadfast commitment to uplifting the community, the inaugural conference united educators, leaders, and changemakers to foster dialogue, mentorship, and growth. As the conference grew, it expanded its reach, being hosted at various college institutions, and its leadership evolved. Today, it is proudly led by Pasadena-bred entertainer, educator, and philanthropist, Stephån Gregory O'Shea McGrue. Over the years, YBMC has flourished, hosting thousands of participants and amplifying powerful voices that inspire action and drive change. As it continues to evolve, the conference remains a beacon of resilience, innovation, and unity, empowering young Black men and their allies to rise together and shape a brighter future.
